WORKING A SKI SEASON |

The job descriptions below are a general idea of what qualifications and/or experience the ski companies are looking for. Each companies requirements will differ slightly so use the descriptions below as a guide line only.
HOTEL MANAGERS - apply Are responsible for the efficient day to day running of the hotel, this includes organising, managing, motivating and supporting your team of staff, carrying out administration duties, budgeting, keeping control of stock and ordering supplies, liaising with local suppliers and organising transfers. Previous management experience in the hotel/catering industry is essential. As well as having excellent PR and guest relation skills, you will be exceptionally organised and be fluent in either French or German. Minimum age 30 ASSISTANT MANAGER - apply This is a ‘hands on role’ and you will be expected to work with your team ensuring that the restaurant service runs smoothly and efficiently and overseeing the cleaning of bedrooms and public areas of the hotel. Other duties include assisting the hotel manager with administration and working as duty manager on a rotational basis. You will again either have previous hotel experience in a supervisory role or previous ski resort experience. You will be able to communicate with people at all levels and be able to speak French to a high level. Minimum age 21 RESORT MANAGER - apply You will be responsible for the efficient day to day running of a small hotel catering for up to 40 guests or a group of chalets in resort. This includes organising, managing and motivating a team of approximately 6 staff, carrying out administration duties, ordering and controlling stock, budgeting, liaising with local suppliers and organising and participating in transfers. Other duties may include arranging ski passes, equipment hire and organising après-ski activities, you may also be involved in the ski guiding programme. Ideally you will have worked a couple of seasons in a rep’s type role. You will have an outgoing and friendly personality, excellent communication skills, be able to ski to a high standard and be fluent in either French, German or Spanish. Minimum age 25 RESORT REP'S - apply Are responsible for ensuring the smooth running and enjoyment of the guests holiday, from meeting them at the airport to organising a weekly programme of après ski activities, other duties include arranging ski passes, equipment hire and ski school and completing paperwork. This is a very demanding position as you will be on call 24 hours a day,7 days a week. The position requires dedicated, hard working people with a smart appearance and friendly, outgoing personalities. Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak French, German or Italian are essential. Minimum age 21
Hotels; HEAD CHEFS - apply Catering for between 80 and 120 guests, you will be responsible for all aspects of running the kitchen in the hotel, including staff management, ordering and controlling stock, budgeting and hygiene control. Qualifications essential. Minimum age 21 Sous Chefs - apply Working alongside the head chef you will be responsible for the food preparation and presentation for between 80 and 120 guests. Other responsibilities include cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen. You will also be expected to cover the chef on his/her day off. Minimum age 18
CHALETS; Chalet/hotels - apply Catering for between 35 and 50 guests, you will have sole responsibility for the kitchen and be experienced in menu planning, ordering stock, budgeting and stock taking. Minimum age 21 Luxury chalets - apply You will be catering for up to 12 guests with the help of an assistant, responsibilities include cooking breakfast, an afternoon tea of home made cakes, canapés and a four course evening meal to the highest standard. All the above positions require a City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent plus relevant work experience. Minimum age 23. Chalet Cooks & Couples - apply Are solely responsible for the smooth running of a chalet catering for up to 10 guests, providing breakfast, an afternoon tea of home made cakes and a 3 course evening meal to dinner party standard. Working to a tight budget you will be able to plan menus and keep accounts. Other responsibilities include cleaning all areas of the chalet on a daily basis. Chalet cooks are recognised for their outgoing, hard working and friendly personalities, although a cooking qualification is not essential, you will have some catering experience, have a natural flair for cooking, be well organised, efficient and experienced in working under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of customer service. Minimum age 21 Chalet Assistants - apply Will work alongside the cook in larger chalets catering for approximately 14 guests or in club hotels catering for up to 40 guests. Your main duties will be to assist the cook in the kitchen with food preparation, washing up, laying tables, serving meals, cleaning rooms, changing linen etc. You will be enthusiastic and hard working, with a friendly and helpful attitude. No qualifications are necessary for these positions although previous work experience in hotels or restaurants would be an advantage. Minimum age 18
Nannies - apply Are responsible for providing a safe, stimulating & fun environment for the children in their care, planning and organising a schedule of different games and activities each day, preparing the children’s meals and at quiet times assisting with chalet duties. A responsible and professional approach is required, as well as a recognised childcare certificate and practical work experience. Positions as assistant nannies are also available for those with childcare experience but no qualification. Minimum age 18
Bar Staff - apply Are needed to work in busy hotel bars, serving, preparing and cleaning the bar area and organising drink promotions. These positions are well sought after and only those that can speak French and who have bar experience will be successful. Senior Bar staff are responsible for all aspects of bar management, this includes cleanliness, cash control, stock taking and ordering. A friendly, lively, outgoing personality is essential as well as being able to speak French to a high level.
Plongeur/Night Porters - apply This is a combined role rotated on a weekly basis. The Plongeur is responsible for the washing up of plates, cutlery pans, etc cleaning the kitchen and assisting the chef with basic food preparation. The Night Porter is responsible for the security of the hotel, setting up the dining room for breakfast, cleaning duties and other jobs around the hotel, working through the night. Minimum age 18. Waiting/Housekeeping Staff - apply Are required to work within a small team to clean bedrooms and all public areas of the hotel, change linen and serve and clear tables at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ideally you will have some experience in the hotel industry, be flexible and hard working. Minimum age 18. Driver/Handyman - apply You will be responsible for general hotel and vehicle maintenance, driving duties, snow clearing, changing gas bottles, moving beds etc. You will be adaptable, flexible and be able to work on your own initiative. A clean drivers licence is essential as well as a sound knowledge of a trade such as carpentry, plumbing, electric’s and general DIY. Minimum age 23. Ski Guide - apply These positions are often doubled up with those of rep, manager or driver/handyman A minimum of 20 weeks ski experience is required (not snowboard). French speakers preferred. Minimum age 23. Ski TECHNICIAN - apply Must hold relevant ski technician qualification and have experience. Minimum age 23. |
