Your questions answered Seasonal positions are challenging and demanding jobs which involve long unsocial hours. You will need to be hard working and committed to enjoy the benefits of spending a season in the Alps. It's a great experience and you will meet heaps of new people, improve your language skills and most importantly either learn to ski or snowboard or improve your existing skills. Many people complete further seasons working their way up to management positions.
WHAT TYPE OF STAFF ARE THE COMPANIES LOOKING FOR?. Most companies are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing individuals and couples who are hard working, self motivated and committed to working a full season, those who have a sense of fun and adventure and enjoy sharing their time with others whilst delivering the highest level of customer service.
WILL I HAVE TO FIND MY OWN ACCOMMODATION?. No, you will be provided with your accommodation, normally sharing with one other although this will vary from company to company.
WILL I HAVE TO MAKE MY OWN WAY TO THE RESORT? No, the company you work for will provide transport to the resort, normally by minibus coach or flight.
WHAT OTHER BENEFITS DO I GET? Generally you will be provided with your food, accommodation, a seasons ski pass, ski and boot hire and insurance.
WILL I HAVE ANY TIME TO SKI?. As a general idea chalet and hotel staff will work in the mornings until around midday and again from late afternoon until late evening, you will have enough free time to ski most afternoons except for changeover days and will receive one full day off per week.
WILL I GET ANY TRAINING? Yes, the company that employs you will provide training, this will normally be in-house, in the resort, about a week or two before the first guests arrive.
WHEN DOES THE SKI SEASON BEGIN? All positions are from early December through to the end of April.
I DON'T HOLD AN EU PASSPORT - CAN I STILL APPLY? Unfortunately most companies cannot legally employ you if you are not holding a current British or European passport. However there are a few that can, so only apply for the jobs that say, 'Non EU passport holders welcome to apply'.
WHEN SHOULD I APPLY? NOW – Our recruitment programme has started and will continue right through until Dec.
I CAN ONLY START IN JANUARY - IS THIS TOO LATE TO APPLY? Most positions will be filled, however, for various reasons people will drop out, either they are not right for the job, they get home sick or unfortunately suffer injuries, so last minute positions do arise and companies are always looking to add people to their reserve list.
